Swimming

This week we've been swimming, mainly in school work and balancing our home and school lives, but we ended the week with a fun family day at the school pool. We enrolled Maximo in swim classes. He LOVED it! He lasted through the whole class, without so much as a fuss. There was one other kid in his class, Ali, who is a year older than Max and already swims like a fish. John went in with Maximo and they splashed, played on the noodle, chased balls in the pool, raced Ali, and even jumped off the side of the pool! Surprisingly, it was a pretty structured class for such little kids. He's going to have class every Saturday. Hopefully the class will stay relatively small and he'll continue to enjoy it.
He also started clapping this week - though he usually does it by hitting the back of his right hand with his left hand. We've been playing a lot of "Patty Cake", but I think the girls have been playing more with him during the day because his cue to start clapping is "Bravo" rather than "Yeah" or anything else in English.
We're keeping up with therapy three times a week until we see the doctor at the end of the month, when we hope we'll be able to decrease the frequency of his therapy. He's constantly on the move, and though he has some great toys, he prefers romping around with Flavius, his dad's book shelf, and the small metal trash can in the office (and will scream bloody murder when we try to move him away from any of these objects). He's also starting to cruise around the living room furniture which is exciting.
Side note: Doesn't Max look cute in his swimming cap? It's a rule at the school pool, but we hardly thought it would apply to Maximo (because he's a baby, not because he's our child and above the law!). Luckily they had one we could borrow, so now we need to go out this week and try to find a baby sized one. This one is nice too because it's not made out of that tight lycra; we've already started scouring athletic stores looking for one.

Now Max looks cute in his swim cap, but the Lemster looks like...well let's just say he ain't no Marak Spitz. I know the Olympic Games have begun, but you are not a member of the swim team nor water polo. Nice look Lemley!
