Maximo had another good day. He is eating really well, but I’m anxious every time I talk to the doctor in the morning or check his weight chart. If he’s 100 kg before he’s 2, it’s because I feel like feeding him every second I can for him to gain weight. He did gain another 15 grams yesterday, so slowly but surely he’s getting bigger. The ups and downs of the past three weeks is what is wearing on us. We’re (I’m) either positive, knowing he’s gaining weight and strength or I’ve had it – the hours, the lack of being home, the stress of the NICU – it is one of the loudest places in the world – even louder than the car alarms and horns outside. There are babies crying, alarms going off, the phone endlessly ringing, nurses talking…
Maximo is definitely worth it, but I can’t wait until we get home. It doesn’t look like it’ll be this weekend as we had hoped before, but hopefully we’ll get there soon. Maximo has started a new trick of trying to pee on every nurse the past two days. I’m glad he’s got a sense of humor already… He actually peed on his head today, now that’s an accomplishment! Yesterday, a nurse asked if I wanted to change his diaper, so I got to change his diaper for the first time, tonight makes two. Well, we’re shoveling dinner in at 9:45 and then off to bed.

Keep your focus on the goal, dear Julie; you are amazing! How tired you and John must be, but what a fantastic Mom & Dad you are. We are all so thrilled with Max's progress and so very proud of you.
Love, Gigi
