Well, Papa John's back! (There's the pizza place here too and the maid gets a kick out of calling him that;) He went on a hike in the Colca Canyon and had some issues getting back, but he's here so Maximo and I are happy!
All's well with Maximo. He's smiling more and more and finally this week has started grabbing for toys - especially "Jacques zee Peacock" (and you must say it with a French accent). He can't really do it laying on his back on the playmat, but he can while sitting in our laps.
I may eat my words, but he's starting to establish a sleeping routine... I'm only getting up once a night - woo-hoo! Also since it's been getting really hot here - the baby carriers have been making us both sweaty and miserable, we've been using the stroller more. Actually Gloria and I have been, because it's Peruvian made and the handles are WAY too short for John. Maximo is actually sitting up and looking around. Which is wiping him out too - thus helping his sleeping schedule.
Lastly, we finally got his American passport and proof of citizenship, though not his Social Security number, because there's always one more thing you need when you go to the embassy, kind of like a trip to the DMV. So another a.m. will be wasted there - and there's no line cutting there just because you have a baby (most everywhere else in the country there is).
