It's been an interesting few days. Max is enduring his first cold. It was inevitable that he was going to get sick. We're happy this is the first time - we (I) would have been a basket case if he got sick in those first few months he was home. He's now got a constant stream of snot running out of his nose and is more than pleased to rub it on anyone who's in reaching distance. He's constantly rubbing his nose on our clothes and today he grabbed the therapist's hand and wiped his nose with that... oops - hope she's not a germaphobe.
Feeding him has also been, ummm, interesting? It's hard to tell if he's opening his mouth because he wants more food or if he's just about to sneeze or cough. In the past two days, I've been hosed down with pasta, squash, and pureed fruits numerous times.
During the day, Maximo has been fairly happy. A little clingy, maybe, but overall, his normal happy self. Night time, however, has been the pits. For the past couple of nights he's really struggled with breathing through the boogeys. So, he's up fussing - a lot. I've been sleeping with him almost the whole night for the past two. Today, I took the day off because I was running on about four hours sleep and feeling rundown myself. We'll see what happens tonight. We brought the carseat in the house, so if he's struggling with sleeping, we're going to pop him in that so he can sleep sitting up. Last night, I went to go heat up his bottle at about 3:30, so I propped him up next to John in our bed. After heating his bottle, I went back to retrieve him and he was passed out sitting up against our pillows. So, I laid down next to him to keep him from rolling off the bed. He slept like that for a full hour - I think he was finally comfortable and could breathe - but then he woke up because he was hungry.
On other exciting news... Max is scooting all over the place. He's getting up on his hands and knees and is rocking but can't really move forward by himself. Backwards, on the other hand - he is all over the place. It's been fun to watch him move all around. (Especially because we weren't sure if we'd ever get to this stage, though we're not out of the woods.) He really seems to be happy moving all over the place too, so he's preferring to be on his belly rather than sitting up on his play mat.
And lastl... food (what would a post be without either food or poop talk)... he had his first red meat on Sunday. I made ground beef with sweet potatoes, onions and tomatoes. He, again, seemed to like it, though the texture of the ground beef was a little weird to him (I didn't puree it). Also, he had curry today! I mixed some curry powder in with his pork, apricots, squash and rice - and he gobbled it down.
Remind me how great he ate when he's two and refusing to eat anything but grilled cheese and chicken nuggets.

Love the photo! Would it be inappropriate to say that Max's baby crawl resembles Jon's (or John's) post-pub crawl?!
