We went to the physiologist today (he's the head doctor at the physical therapy clinic -- not sure what his exact title is). He's a very kind man. He evaluated Maximo and says he's developmentally a three month old - which would be his corrected age. Max followed objects well, showed decent head strength, and actually showed a lessened startle reflex (which even surprised Mommy). Dr. Rivera said that Maximo's legs seemed good and not to worry about the hyperreflexiveness - that it wasn't that bad. He said to put him on his belly as much as he can tolerate, which we've become more diligent about - especially because he doesn't cry the whole time when he's on his belly now. Since we head back to school soon (sigh), once we return from Argentina, Maximo's going to have therapy in the afternoons. If Maximo's upper body strength doesn't seem to improve by the end of February, then he wants to "up" his therapy sessions to two times per week. He said he was not concerned with Maximo's development at this time. So, we're going to continue to do what we're doing, and give him lots of love - which is easy.
He's actually a pretty easy kid. We've been lugging him around town quite a bit lately since Pa-Pa is here - he's been to Pachacamac (ancient Peruvian/Incan ruins) and to many restaurants with us and has been a dream... even in the heat.
