On the weekends, we're catching up with posts of Max's world and development. During the week, life is so crazy, so on the weekends, we're posting multiple posts because they don't necessarily all go together. (Sorry if you're trying to procrastinate during the week, there hasn't been anything new!)
Maximo's greatest accomplishment has definitely been his eating. Not surprisingly, looking at his parents. Hopefully, he'll luck out with his mom's fast metabolism. It's been really fun feeding him and introducing new foods to him. This week, he's been trying some new fruits. Since summer's over, I've gotten into the monotonous routine of preparing pears and prunes or applesauce or just mashing up some bananas. So, this week he's successfully tried lucuma (which I hadn't eaten except as an ice cream flavor, up until this week either) and chirimoya (also called custard apple and it tastes like strawberries and cream - yum!). We've been good about giving him things we don't necessarily like, specifically papaya. It's packed with vitamins, so it's really good for him, though it maybe just about the only food I won't eat.
He's devouring his Cheerios, and the embassy commissary is totally out, so hopefully our little ziploc baggy-full will make it another couple of weeks. He LOVES them, but he doesn't have the coordination to grab them off his high chair tray and put them in his mouth. This morning, I tried to put some in my hand and help guide his hand to them, but instead he face-planted into my hand and ate them like a chicken pecking feed - whatever. It'll come.
Today, Maximo is attending his second birthday party - he's quite the popular lad. Hopefully, I'll remember to take pictures.
