A little weekend update! We had a fabulous time in Naplo, a little beach commumity about 60 km south of Lima with the St. Clair family. It was a well needed trip out of the city. Maximo was fantastic during the day time, but couldn't seem to stay asleep at night! He seemed to like the beach more than he did when we went in February - he enjoyed watching the birds and playing in the sand. All that fresh air really tired him out - during the day time and he was doing well sleeping during the day too - still only about 45 minutes at a clip, but he was doing 3 or 4 naps a day.
He continues to have a rough time falling asleep by himself. He screams like someone is yanking out his toenails one by one. When we were at the beach, he woke up a few times at night. We're thinking that it was because he was in new surroundings - and his new tent/bed. And, he can easily roll from back to stomach, but cannot seem to roll stomach to back very easily. So sometimes he just gets stuck and ends up doing about twenty push ups and gets frustrated because he's tired.
He seemed to be getting better Sat. and Sun. when returned home- falling asleep on his own after about 5 minutes of crying, but tonight was horrific and we had to go into his room three times (uh, make that four) and he's only been in bed for an hour.
It's hard... I'm trying to convince Gloria to let him cry it out a bit, but she doesn't like to hear Max cry, hopefully we can break him of this habit with his night sleeping and when we have him on the weekends. Luckily next weekend, we have another long weekend due to a government-mandated holiday due to the APAC Summit hosted in Peru. We'll have four days and nights with Maximo so hopefully we will break him of this habit.
I know it seems like a lot of complaining, but besides this "little" thing, he is the happiest, sweetest little boy in the whole world.
