Sometimes I think I'm being really efficient - I try to maximize my time when Maximo is asleep - okay, except for sometimes Sunday afternoons when I stretch out and take a nap with him. Last weekend, I made a pureed meal of chicken, rice, carrots and green beans for Max. I put it in an ice cube tray, covered it in wax paper, then put it in the refrigerator so it could cool off before I put it in the freezer (if you put it in the freezer warm, you get wicked freezer burn). It was a hectic week, so it stayed like that all week.
So, earlier today, I go to take the chicken out of the ice cube trays today while Max was taking his morning nap to find the wax paper totally frozen to the food. And it would not peel off - "Crap! Did I waste all that time and food preparing his little meal? He loves this combo, am I going to have to pitch it?" was what I was thinking. So, instead of wasting, I cut off the top part of each of the "food cubes". Have you ever tried to cut an ice cube? Go ahead, try it - I want you to experience the love and devotion that goes into his food. Okay, then do 12 ice cubes... and please don't cut off your finger.
Now looking back at what I must have looked like in the kitchen with the ice cube trays, the food cubes, a sharp knife and shavings of food scraps mixed with wax paper, I'm really glad John didn't walk down and see me, because he would have commented, as he often does, something about "Hurricane Jule" - because often times there's a wake of destruction left behind me.

Couldn't you have just run hot water over it to melt the ice a bit?
Oh, I tried that first, believe me! Running water over it actually made it worse - it kind of melted the paper into the food.
