It's 11:00 am and we're still at the hospital. It looks like we are being discharged, but we are waiting on Maximo's vaccination for Synergis (the one I spoke of earlier). It doesn't seem like the doctor on staff or the nurses understand how excited we are to go home and how we're tired of being in the NICU for 4 WEEKS! Our doctor will be up at the hospital at 1:00 pm, so hopefully if all else fails, he'll push things along. On a side note: Max gained another 15 grams yesterday - that seems to be his favorite number. He loves to sleep which prevents him from eating more!!!
2:30 WE'RE AT HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It felt like we were kidnapping Maximo out of the hospital. It felt so strange to walk out the front doors with him. After struggling with the car seat, we made it home. So now we're here and excited to be here with a baby. It seems strange. Looking back on it now, we can't believe that he'll be 4 weeks old tomorrow, but everyday in that NICU, especially early on, felt like an eternity.
Now that Maximo's home, we unfortunately can't show him off to the whole world. We need to be really careful about germs for a little while. We do NOT want to be back in a hospital and he has a weak immune system (probably because he still isn't due for another 5 weeks). So, I'm going to try to post some pictures later today to satisfy your needs to see Maximo right now. I'm not sure if I'll continue to write daily now, but I'll definitely keep this post going, so those that are interested in Max's growing up can check up on the little guy.
